Julie Lamontagne's first trio album - Facing the truth - is finally available! Recorded in Montreal in the summer of 2004 with Dave Watts on double bass and Richard Irwin on drums, this CD features an array of original compositions by Julie. The music reveals the close rapport between the members of this young yet undeniably mature group, clearly destined for a very bright future. The style is fluid and deeply personal, with nothing superfluous or unnecessary in either music or technique. Fresh from the Montreal, Toronto and Paris launches of Facing the truth, Julie now embarks with renewed vigor upon her next project: preparing a series of concerts with her trio on jazz stages across Canada, Europe and Asia. This first CD, very well received by critics and public alike, clearly marks the beginning of a very promising international jazz career. Her mind constantly abuzz with new ideas, Julie has been on tour with singer Isabelle Boulay since September 2004, traveling between Europe and Canada. Upon her return to Quebec next September, she will be providing updates on her many upcoming projects for the 2005-2006 season.
